Moi's request after appointment to top position
Moi has made it clear that he wants President Uhuru Kenyatta to appoint his allies the cabinet and other influential government positions.
Under the arrangement, Kenya African National Union (KANU) is seeking 4 cabinet positions and appointment to various parastatals and government agencies.
The list of KANU nominees has already been presented to the president.
In a telephone interview with a local newspaper, the senator stated that doing so would see his party KANU play an integral role in safeguarding Kenyatta's legacy.
This latest demand has angered Deputy president William Ruto who has also declared interest in the 2022 presidential race.
Confidential sources revealed that the DP's camp is strongly opposed to this as it will strengthen Moi ahead of 2022.
Ruto's camp is understood to be lobbying and strategizing behind the scenes to cut Moi's growing influence.
The Senator's career has been on the rise, with Kabarak University recently appointing him as the Pro-Chancellor.
The rivalry between Moi and Ruto played out openly in the run up to the August elections with their supporters and party officials disagreeing publicly on many occasions.
However, president Kenyatta prevailed upon them to unite and support his bid and calmed the tensions.
