New developments on Uhuru, Ruto case at The Hague as ICC assigns new judges
President Uhuru's case was withdrawn in 2014
According to Citizen, The International Criminal Court’s presidency has assigned three judges to Trial Chamber IV, on the withdrawn cases against President Uhuru, his deputy William Ruto and Journalist Joshua Sang.
The Judges Robert Fremr, Reine Alapini-Gansou and Kimberly Prost were appointed to hear the collapsed case against the three after key witnesses withdrew and others recanted their evidence.
In 2014, ICC prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda filed a notice withdrawing crimes against humanity allegations against President Kenyatta accusing the Kenyan government of intimidating witnesses.
In 2016, ICC judges Chile Eboe-Osuji and Robert Fremr dismissed charges of crimes against humanity against DP Ruto and journalist Sang, after the prosecution failed to present sufficient evidence to convict the suspects.
