Duale has run into trouble with Jubilee MPs.
The threats of impeachment comes in the wake of a quiet rebellion by a cross section of Jubilee MPs from the Rift Valley who blame Duale of high handeness and being behind the removal of four legislators from the region from key House committee leadership positions.
The lawmakers accused Duale of harassing MPs from the Rift Valley region and have threatened to resign from their committees en masse in January if their four colleagues are not reinstated to their elected house committee positions.
The four makers who were de-whipped and removed from from their House Committee positions by Majority Whip Benjamin Washiali are MPs Kangogo Bowen (Marakwet East), Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills), and Alex Kosgei (Emgwen).
Over 30 legislators from the Rift Valley region among them Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen convened an urgent meeting on Thurday to discuss the matter of Duale and the axing of the four MPs from their respective committees.
According to The Nation, the lawmakers told their four colleagues not to relinquish their positions.
Cherengany MP Joshua Kutuny who led the meeting said MPs were unhappy with Duale and his conduct was discussed at length.
“We were trying to put things in order after our members were dewhipped from the committees. The act was unfortunate and MPs have resolved a number of issues, including an impeachment motion against Mr Duale. “Members raised a lot of issues, including the conduct of Mr Duale. They said if he does not change, they will impeach him,”,” Mr Kutuny said.
It was agreed upon that Murkomen should urgently arrange a meeting between them and Deputy President William Ruto over the crisis in the National Assembly.
