Jubilee MPs disappoint Uhuru after going against his will

Jubilee legislators go against the President's wish

Members of parliament travelled to the Coast for a seminar, most of whom are allied to the Jubilee Party.

According to reports, the legislators are spending the night in costly and luxurious hotels which is burdening the tax payer.

The legislators' move comes weeks after President Uhuru expressed the need for legislators to make use of state owned institutions when holding seminars so as to cut unnecessary costs that may be incurred.

His statement was;

“I want to take this opportunity to encourage all government agencies to make use of these facilities that the tax payers have given us,” Uhuru said.

The president expressed his wish concerning the matter during a two-day Inspector General of Police seminar that was held in Kenya School of Government. He lauded police inspectors for their move to hold the conference in the government owned institution.

It has been a culture for Kenyan legislators from both County and National assemblies to hold their meetings in lavish hotels. Most of them have been flying to the coast to hold their meetings. The conferences are normally held in high end hotels hence burdening ‘mwananchi’ more since they are the ones who foot the bill.

It has been a tough time for the Kenyan taxpayer. The president recently expanded cabinet slots which will cost Kenyans half a billion annually. The 22 cabinet ministers slot, 21 Chief Administrative Secretaries will cost approximately Sh486.4 million each year if they both happen to be earning equal amounts of money.
