Kalonzo makes new appointments

Kalonzo Musyoka is in German attending to his sick wife Pauline.

Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana, in addition was appointed Wiper’s national chairman, after former Kitui Senator David Musila, ditched Wiper for Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party. Mr Musila ditched the party, just like Omar, citing poor leadership at the party.

The appointments comes after a meeting on Monday which lasted for hours in a bid to fill up vacant positions, for the effectiveness of the party, even as the party leader Mr Kalonzo Musyoka is out of the country.

"Professor Kibwana was appointed chairman and Senator Sijeny secretary general, both in acting capacity until we hold the annual general meeting," the Monday meeting organizing secretary Robert Mbui said, as quoted by the Star.

The appointments, however, remain in acting capacity as the National Executive Committee (NEC), according to the political parties’ provisions, need to hold a national convention to ratify the appointments.

The party dispelled earlier claims that the party would be leaving National Super Alliance after the august 8 polls and October 26 polls which the Nasa candidates – Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka – quit, citing lack of proper reforms.

“We agreed to increase our visibility in NASA activities. We resolved that all our members must be in all activities of NRM so they do not look like ODM affairs. We are preparing for 2022 and the slot for the Presidency is ours,” Mbui clarified.
