New details have emerged on why National Super Alliance (NASA) affiliate party the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will not have a presidential candidate come 2022.
Khalwale said that only Ford Kenya, Amani National Coalition (ANC) and Wiper Democratic Movement parties are allowed to contest for the position calling on ODM party leader Raila Odinga to be a statesman and avoid any push that can make him default on the initial NASA agreement.
“The NASA coalition agreement expressly excludes ODM from the predidential race, leaving it open only to @FordKenyaSimba, @anc_party & @WiperMovement Party. @RailaOdinga, be a statesman & avoid any push or shove for u to renege on the NASA contract!” said Khalwale in a tweet.
His remarks come a day after the ODM leader hinted out that the Orange party was ready to go it out solo in the push for the NASA agenda as well as the 2022 elections if pushed to do so, in the ODM National Governing Council meeting attended by NASA co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi.
In their agreement, NASA affiliate parties agreed that Raila Odinga would serve for one five year term if he became president and he would support Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka who is his running mate in the 2022 general elections.
