Governor Waititu appoints John Mututho

Mututho has landed a big position after he was removed as NACADA boss.

Waitutu has appointed Mututho in the new role as the Kiambu leader steps up the fight against illicit liquor in his county.

Last year, the county introduced the Kiambu County Alcoholic Drink Control Bill 2017 which proposes 21 years as the minimum age any person will be allowed to consume or even sell alcohol.

Currently, the legal drinking age is 18 years.

Governor Waititu said the bill was aimed at taming alcoholism in the county making it illegal for a person to sell, supply or provide an alcoholic drink to a person under the age of 21 years.

Mututho unsuccessfully ran for the Nakuru gubernatorial seat and came a distant third behind eventual winner Lee Kinyanjui and former governor Kinuthia Mbugua.

Mbugua has since been named State House Comptroller by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Mututho, a former Naivasha MP sued the late Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery for sacking him from NACADA saying it was because of his fight against corruption at the authority.

“My retirement is in bad faith since I have been in the forefront of fighting corruption at the authority where Sh500 million has been lost,” Mututho complained after his sacking.
