Jubilee rebel MP loses seat

The MP was removed as the Chair of the Environment parliamentary committee a few weeks ago.

Kangogo who is the Marakwet East MP had his election nullified on Tuesday morning by the Eldoret High Court.

According Judge George Kimondo, the elections were not transparent, accurate and verifiable and failed to pass the constitutional threshold of fair and credible elections.

Kimondo ordered for a by-election after in his ruling.

Kangogo was also ordered to pay Sh2 million in costs.

However Kangogo denied the claims saying the polls were free and fair.

Tight race

Kangogo narrowly won the August 8 elections after garnering 14,812 votes against his main competitor Lina Jebii Kilimo who got 13,845.

Kangogo was among the rebel Jubilee MPs who were axed from the head of various parliamentary committees a few weeks ago.

He was removed as the Parliamentary Environment and Natural Resources Committee vice chairperson and replaced by Sophia Noor of Ijara.
