Ann Waiguru’s Victory at stake after Karua’s new decision
Karua's decision is coming days after the Supreme court ruling on Presidential result
Karua and his legal team are expected to file the petition at 10:00 am on September 5, 2017.
The former gubernatorial hopeful refused to accept the results of the General Election which pipped her rival Anne Waiguru for victory in the gubernatorial race.
According to Karua the the counting and tallying of the results were not handled in a proper manner.
"We disputed the counting and tallying and demanded a recount while the process was on going which IEBC denied." Said Karua
Waiguru, who once served as Devolution Cabinet Secretary, was announced the winner with 161, 000 votes, against Karua’s 122, 000 Votes.
On September 1st, Karua joined the NASA team on the streets of Nairobi to celebrate the Supreme Court decision where she affirmed that she will be moving to court.
“As such we are exploring legal options to open the process to scrutiny in line with an open and transparent process a fundamental requisite to free, fair and credible elections." Said Karua.
Karua’s running mate Gachoki Gitari echoed the sentiments of her boss saying that the legal team has been instructed to file the petition.
“It is true Karua will be suing the IEBC and Waiguru over the election. There will be no retreat,” Gitari said.
Karua's decision is coming days after the Supreme Court nullified the Presidential Election ordering for a fresh election that is scheduled on October 17, 2017.
