Matiang’i’s childhood friends reveal surprising details about his life

Little is known about Matiang'i's private life

Outside of his work, little is known about the man who currently holds two ministerial posts.

However, a story published by KTN has offered a rare glimpse into Matiangi’s roots at Kiabonyoru High School.

According to his former schoolmates and teachers, the current acting Education CS was a stickler for rules and a disciplinarian – right from a young age.

While pursuing his secondary education, Matiang’i was so respected that teachers and students referred to him as “nusu mwalimu (semi-teacher)”.

“He was a good student and a prefect. Very strict and a well-mannered boy, we used to call him nusu mwalimu,” stated Livingstone Okwayo – Matiang’i’s literature teacher at Kiabanyouru High School.

“I knew him to be very strict. He was a kitchen prefect and as form ones, whenever we saw him, we would immediately queue in a very straight line. He was like a teacher,” a schoolmate recalled.

The schoolmate added that many of his colleagues hated and admired Matiang’i in equal measure.

However, the man who currently oversees the country’s security won unanimous adoration from both friends and villagers after rescuing a school girl who was being raped by some boys from the village.
