Top lawyers reveal what next for Sonko after Igathe’s resignation

This being the first time that a sitting Deputy Governor has resigned from office, opinion is divided on what next for Sonko and the county, but either way, the choices are tough.

Through his Twitter handle, Nairobi based lawyer Donald Kipkorir offered free advice to Sonko, telling him to pick Agnes Kagure or Joan Mwangi as his deputy.

Prior to election, several people had expressed interest in Igathe’s position including Denis Waweru and Bishop Margaret Wanjiru.

With the post vacant, many more could express interest, putting Sonko in a dilemma.

According to vocal lawyer allied to the opposition Dr. Miguna Miguna, Nairobi County is headed to a by-election following the resignation of Igathe.

Through his Twitter handle, the self-declared National Resistance Movement general shared his legal opinion in a tweet below.

As news of things falling apart between Sonko and Igathe swept across the nation, Gatudu South legislator Moses Kuria made a post on Facebook, affirming that no man could put together what God has put asunder.

The post read which read “What God has put asunder, let no man put together” elicited reaction with some interpreting it to mean that the union between Sonko and Igathe was bound to fail.

The governor who acknowledged receipt of Igathe’s resignation and is understood to be consulting before making a public statement.
