Miguna Miguna issues fresh demands to the state after Uhuru-Raila meeting

What Miguna Miguna wants before he returns to Kenya

In a statement issued on Friday, his Lawyer Nelson Havi disclosed that the State “should also purchase and forward to him air ticket from Toronto Canada to Nairobi”.

He also sought an assurance within 3 days that the general will not be detained and will enjoy unrestricted access to any part of the country.

The letter which was copied to Interior CS Fred Matiang'i, Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet, DIC boss and the Kenya National Human Rights Commission read in part that “You must also confirm to us three days in writing that Miguna will not be detained and that he will be granted unrestricted access to Kenya".

These demands come barely a week after a surprise truce between President Uhuru Kenyatta and National Super Alliance leader Raila Odinga.

Odinga disclosed that the truce would see the state drop charges against opposition politicians linked to his ‘swearing in’ on 30 January 2018.

The controversial event saw the state launch a crackdown on opposition supporters arresting and presenting them in court.

Among those caught up in the crackdown was Miguna Miguna who was deported to Canada and his passport seized by the state.
