Moses Kuria opens up on Sakaja’s betrayal

Just bring me porridge in the cell the next time I will be arrested - Kuria to Sakaja.

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has cried foul over the recent step by Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja to bail out of cell Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili, alias Babu Owino over the weekend terming it betrayal.

Taking his lamentations on Facebook to expose the waiving trust he has had for Mr Sakaja for over 10 years, Mr Kuria told off Mr Sakaja, for siding with Babu, who he claims had broken the law.

“I look forward to the day my friend Sen Johnson Sakaja will come to visit me in cell. Do not even secure my release. Just bring me a bowl of porridge,” the lawmaker posted.

He added: “Sulking is human, isn’t it? After all we have worked together fir over a decade now..”

On Sunday, Mr Sakaja led a battery of Nasa lawmakers and made their way to Parklands Police Station, where Embakasi East MP Babu Owino was being detained, leading to his release.

The lawmaker had spent two nights in the cells following allegations of assault.

Mr Owino was released after Mr Sakaja gave a personal surety to produce him at the Milimani Law Court on Monday at 8am, and later castigated the police for unlawfully detaining the lawmaker in succession.

He also criticised the police for politicising the criminal justice system. He also termed the assault accusations “petty”.

The Jubilee senator arrived at the police station at 1pm, a few minutes after Nasa legislators had marched to the station to demand Mr Owino’s release.

“We may disagree in matters of politics, but we agree on one thing that Mr Babu Owino is a leader and Kenyan who has rights and deserves dignity. I have committed to avail him in court tomorrow,” said Mr Sakaja.

Other legislators who accompanied Mr Sakaja included Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, Mathare MP Anthony Oluoch, Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga and former Embakasi South MP Irshad Sumra.
