Moses Kuria proposes radical reforms in the 2022 general elections

Moses Kuria gives the way forward on referendum

Key among the changes he outlines was that as opposed to the present 6 ballot boxes (President, Governor, Senator, Women Rep, MP and MCA), an additional ballot box will be provided for Referandum, making them 7.

Kuria divulged that any changes passed during the voting exercise would take effect after five years in 2027 and this would be the trend moving forward.

Kuria took to social media to share his thoughts with Kenyans, attracting both criticism and support in equal measure.

His comments come at a time when the push for a constitutional amendment culminating into a referendum championed by opposition boss Raila Odinga is gaining momentum with many dissenting voices coming out.

Among those opposed to the constitutional amendments are President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto and NASA principal Moses Wetangula among others.

The push for a referendum has seen President Kenyatta and Odinga differ over public issues for the first time since the 09 March handshae that saw the two leaders pledge to work together.

Odinga has however found support from a section of political leaders affiliated to the Jubilee party as well as a host of KANU leaders who have endorsed his plans.
