Has Sonko found a replacement for Igathe?

Emerging reports indicate that Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko could name Agnes Kagure as the new Deputy Governor to replace Polycarp Igathe who left the office unceremoniously.

Mr Sonko together with his Nyeri counterpart Mutahi Kahiga were given the leeway to name their new deputies by the Supreme Court.

The apex court gave the two Governor 14 days to nominate their deputies after which Members of the County Assembly within 60days are expected to vote to either allow the individual to assume office or reject their nomination.

Under the hashtag # Nairobians have urged Mr Sonko to appoint Ms Kagure , the founder of and Managing Principle of The Insurance Consulting Group (ICG).

The successful business woman commenced her life in the Insurance sector at the age of 20 years when she moved to Nairobi looking for greener pasture.

From a novice, the 44-year-old has grown to be a force to reckon and has bagged the Insurance Agent of the Year award severally, beating 333 agents countrywide.

Her impressive career has seen her feature in the 40 under 40 women on the Business Daily.

Before founding her own insurance agency, ICG, Ms Kagure was the Executive Financial Advisor at CFC Stanbic, and was involved in the merger between American Life Insurance Company (ALICO) and CFC Bank to form CFC Life Assurance Limited.

Kagure is a mother of two – Keith and Grace.

Flamboyant lawyer Donald Kipkorir is among Nairobians pushing for her nomination. He tweeted: "Agnes Kagure Kariuki has professional, academic & business excellence to be our Deputy Governor ... She has support across Tribes & Political Parties .. Let us support women of Excellence to rise to the TOP .. ".

Governor Sonko has, however, not responded to the nomination claims.
