Protests broke out in Eldoret on Thursday afternoon after the High Court nullified the election of Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter.

Eldoret High Court judge George Kanyi Kimondo had earlier ruled that Keter's election was marred with irregularities and illegalities and did not meet the threshold of a free and fair poll.

Kimondo also ruled that there was enough evidence which showed Keter deliberately campaigned after the expiry of the official deadline established by the IEBC.

However, Keter blamed the government for his latest predicament which came a few weeks after he was charged with for presenting fake Treasury Bills worth Sh633 million to the Central Bank.

Rebel Jubilee MPs

The ex-Nandi lawmaker was part of the rebel Jubilee MPs who were bundled out of various house leadership committees in Parliament.

“I know what is going on. I, Keter, am being fought a great war from above. I know it because I am fighting corruption in the government.

“I know there is a bigger plan, but God will guide us through. I am being fought because I am fighting corruption” Mr Keter said in his address to his supporters outside the court after his election was nullified.

Eldoret protests

Pro-Keter supporters later took to the main streets of Eldoret Town, which is Deputy President Wiliiam Ruto's backyard in protests over the politician's latest woes.

Keter supporters were seen marching through the town chanting "Ruto must go".
