NASA unity in doubt as principals, constituent parties attack each other

The National Super Alliance (NASA) is staring at imminent death as constituent parties change strategy and openly rebel.

Efforts to keep the opposition coalition united have proved futile as the co-principals Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula reportedly reluctant on engaging in various activities of the coalition.

The coalition principals are also reportedly treating each other with suspicion amidst concerns that the rival Jubilee party could be secretly working with insiders to wreck the party from within.

The push for electoral justice and reforms has also been relegated to the back seat as the parties jostle to consolidate support in their turfs.

The turf wars have seen Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have a series of run-ins with other coalition partners with ints support overlapping into the territory of its partners.

Media reports also indicate that the coalition’s affairs are largely run by Odinga, something that other principals are reportedly not amused about.

This came out clearly where Odinga reportedly made a unilateral decision to be ‘sworn in’ without consulting other principals.

He afterwards faced an uphill task convincing his co-principals to support the decision with Musyoka, Wetangula and Mudavadi all skipping the event.

NASA leader Raila Odinga’s ‘swearing in’ appears to be the final nail on the coalition’s coffin with divisions constantly playing out with the principals and constituent parties attacking each other.
