NASA issues 3 fresh demands to Jubilee ahead of Raila Odinga’s swearing in

NASA has issued fresh demands to Jubilee in behind the scene talks ahead of their planned swearing in of Raila Odinga on Jamhuri day.

Confidential sources revealed to a local daily that the demands were tabled by the opposition in behind the scene talks held earlier this week.

Top on the list of demands is a constitutional amendment with fresh elections to be held within six months to allow Kenyans to choose leaders who will be recognized by all.

The opposition has maintained that they do not recognize the legitimacy of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The opposition is also calling for change in the executive to introduce a parliamentary system and rotational presidency.

Another demand on the list is greater autonomy to the counties with security being a shared function of the central and county government.

The behind the scenes talks are championed by religious leaders who are understood to be working closely with some envoys from the European Union amidst concerns that the country is deeply divided following the 26 October repeat polls.

Meanwhile, NASA has maintained that the plan to swear in the opposition chief Raila Odinga will go on as scheduled.
