The National Super Alliance (NASA) has cracked the whip on 7 errant legislators, suspending them with immediate effect.

The decision was arrived at after the 7 legislators failed to vote in Boaz Okoth as the Migori county assembly speaker as agreed by the coalition.

All the seven Members of County Assembly (MCA) were nominated by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) betrayed the party.

Migori county parliamentary group chairperson Abrahan Kagali disclosed “We had a meeting as the NASA coalition and agreed to front the current Migori county assembly speaker Boaz Okoth, however the seven betrayed our decision, therefore, and they have to face action from the coalition”.

He added that the 7 have 14 days to show cause why the party should not take action against them.

Meanwhile, the suspended legislators led by Jacky Gard and Caroline Okere have appealed to the party’s top leadership to intervene in the matter.

Okere also noted that there was a consistent trend of treats, harassment and intimidation of ODM nominated MCAs from the county.

The county was forced to elect a new speaker after the High Court nullified the previous election of Boaz Okoth.
