Orengo reveals plan of swearing in Raila as President

The NASA leaders revealed how they will declare Raila President after the repeat election.

The leaders led by Siaya Senator James Orengo and former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama dared the IEBC to declare President Uhuru Kenyatta winner in the October 26 repeat presidential poll.

Should IEBC declare Kenyatta the winner, the leaders said NASA would use the results of the August 8 elections and declare Raila Odinga as President.

“We will use August 8 results to swear NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga if Uhuru Kenyatta tries to use October 26 poll results to be sworn in,” said Orengo during a rally at Athi River in Machakos County.

Mr Orengo said that according to the Constitution, Kenyans have the sovereign authority and their voices must be heard.

“The executive authority of Republic of Kenya is with the people of Kenya, the Constitution says you have the sovereign authority. Uhuru does not have sovereign authority, you people have,” the Siaya Senator declared.

Odinga has termed the October 26 election as "a sham" and said he wants another vote within 90 days.

“This is just a sham, because it has basically removed the lid off the can for what Mr Kenyatta has been claiming; because hardly 25 percent of the people turned up to vote yesterday (Thursday). They are now trying to doctor the figures to increase it. But according to the KIEMS kits, which were used to biometrically identify the voters, only 3.5 million people participated in the voting yesterday. That is just about 20 per cent of the total registered voters. That shows, basically, that the people don’t have confidence. It is a vote of no confidence in the government of President Kenyatta. And if I were him, and I know that in most democracies, he would actually resign or step aside.” Odinga affirmed.

Speaking to CNN, the NASA leader said that he would only dialogue with President Kenyatta on holding fresh elections in 90 days and nothing else.
