Joho disagrees with Amason Kingi

Mombasa Governor Joho and Amason Kingi split by new developments

At the center of the disagreement is a push by coast leaders to form a party thatwill bring everyone from the region on board.

While Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi is in support of the idea, his Mombasa counterpart is opposed to the idea and is keen on strengthening Orange Democratic Movement (ODM ) in the region.

Kingi recently disclosed that discussions are underway with other political leaders from the Coast region over a party that will unify them.

However, Joho who is not keen on changing his political home is of a different opinion, preferring to remain in ODM where he has built a name for himself with an impressive career.

Mombasa County Deputy Governor William Kingi disclosed that they had “not discussed formation of a party. But I (Kingi) can say that in ODM we are well placed. Joho is the deputy party leader”.

The drive to form a new political outfit is bein driven by Governor Kingi, MPs Aisha Jumwa (Malindi) and Owen Baya (Kilifi South).

Alluding to the plans, Governor Kingi recently stating: “We’ll build our own house with enough bedrooms to accommodate all of us. Borrowing from others has brought us many problems. In 2022, we’ll not join any party”.
