National Super Alliance member and Dagoretti North Member of Parliament (MP) Simba Arati has been nominated for a top position.

Addressing the press after a meeting at a Kisii hotel, residents of Kisii and Nyamira disclosed that plans are underway to install Arati as the Gusii Community spokesman.

The residents noted that Arati has shown rare bravery, the ability to unify the community and fight for their rights without any prejudice.

In a written statement issued at a Kisii hotel, the residents declared that “the installation preparations are on course and unstoppable”.

The influential position was once held by former Finance Minister Simeon Nyachae who enjoyed unparalleled support from across Gusii land.

However, Gusii council of elders are opposed to the plans and have vowed not to allow such a ceremony to take place anywhere in the Gusii land.

The group fronting Arati for the post noted that “the move to dismiss Mr Arati’s installation came from a section of people masquerading as Gusii elders and who have failed to give proper guidance to our society.”

Arati has come out strongly during opposition rallies, drumming up support for NASA leader Raila Odinga and defending him.

He has also had several run-ins with state security agencies with many opposition supporters admiring his rare bravery.
