David Ndii: DP Ruto spends Sh230K per hour on choppers

Ndii recently claimed that the fight against corruption is set to cripple the DP.

Raila Odinga’s advisor and Economist David Ndii has claimed that Deputy President William Ruto spends Sh230,000 per hour on choppers on local travels, bringing the cost to at least Sh300  million a year.

In a tweet on Friday, Dr Ndii sensationally claimed that the DP uses his own chopper in place of a State funded one, which he said, means that he is compensated in return.

“This is William Ruto’s 5th chopper. They are leased mostly to government, state corporations at min US$2300 per hour (Ksh. 230k), and average of 30 hours per month.

“He also bills government when he in his own chopper. He is milking the public Ksh 300 million a year,” he tweeted with a photo of an Airbus Helicopter H15 (T3) chopper, whose cost price at manufacture is approximated at Sh570 million.

Vicious attacks

Dr Ndii in the recent past has savagely attacked the DP, with the expose on the expenditure by the DP, coming just a day after he poked holes in the ongoing efforts by the Jubilee administration to fight graft.

“The biggest mistake that Kenyans are making is to believe that William Ruto primitive procurement rackets is our biggest corruption problem. Nah. The mother of corruption is state capture by the crony capitalist cartels fronted by Uhuru Kenyatta,” he said on Thursday.

Efforts by this writer to get a comment from DP Ruto’s spokesman Mr David Mugonyi were unsuccessful after he said he wasn’t in a position to speak.
