Raila's latest decision that could prove costly for NASA

Tension is high in NASA following Raila Odinga's decision.

Details have now emerged that Odinga picked the legislator as a reward for his steadfast loyalty to the coalition and his ability to marshal coalitions MPs.

However, Odinga's decision has sparked a fresh row with a section of MPs from Amani National Congress (ANC) threatening to leave NASA.

The MPs demanded that the party be given the deputy minority leader’s position, stating that ANC had settled on Lugari MP Ayub Savula for the position. "This was the decision taken after the parliamentary group meeting and this demand has to be met as soon as yesterday, otherwise we have already decided our next step of action if the demands are not met,” Butere MP Tindi Mwale affirmed.Leaders from Coast region led by Mvita MP Abdulswamad Shariff said that they should be treated equally in the coalition considering the region had been loyal to Odinga. They also demanded that the Minority whip position is reserved for Coast leaders.“Coast MPs have unanimously agreed to give the Minority Whip position to Suleiman Dori (Msambweni MP),” he stated. The Minority Whip is responsible for mobilising members to push the coalition’s agenda in the House.
