Orengo reveals the one problem eating NASA away

Orengo finally comes clean

Speaking during a TV interview, Mr. Orengo said that when the Alliance was formed in preparation for 2017 General Election it never anticipated a situation where it would not be in Government.

According to the Senior Counsel the building blocks of NASAs MoU were only founded on the ideal instance that it would be at the helm of power after the Election.

“The Coalition was constructed as an instrument for winning elections. It was not constructed to deal with a post-election situation where we are not in Government. That is why if you look at the NASA document, the component was not well thought out,” he said

He said this referring to the current power struggle witnessed in the Opposition after the removal of Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula as the Senate Minority leader.

On Tuesday Mr. Orengo, who is a member of the ODM party, was elected as Wetangula’s replacement amid opposition from the other political parties in NASA which include Wiper, Ford Kenya, and ANC.

At the same time, Orengo added that the document never stipulated that the positions in the National Assembly and Senate would be equally shared among the party. As per the lawmaker, this was to be done only based on performance.

“If you look at the NASA document, the focus was on captioning the Executive and that document does not caption positions within the National Assembly or Senate. There was going to be balanced based on Performance.

"But this was not the same as the Executive as it set out who was going to be what or who was going to take up what ministries,” he said.

The Siaya Senator, however, dismissed speculations that NASA was slowly dying.

"NASA is not dead. It cannot be dead until the organs within NASA sit and make the decision about the future of the Coalition," he insisted.
