Another Kenyan man goes on hunger strike over Miguna

The man joined Boniface Okumu in the hunger strike over Miguna's "deportation".

Another man has gone on a hunger strike over the "deportation" of self-proclaimed National Resistance Movement (NRM) General Miguna Miguna.

Paul Mark, a Mamboleo resident in Kisumu, joined Boniface Okumu in the hunger strike aimed at protesting Miguna's subsequent transfer to Dubai and later Canada.

The two vowed to continue with the hunger strike until Miguna is brought back to the country.

Okumu has already gone for four days without eating food.

Court orders

Mark said he took his last meal on Monday evening and promised to continue going without food until the government obeys court orders.

“We believe the hunger strike is the way to go and we will be having night vigils and also demonstrations because the government must respect the constitution. What happened to Miguna Miguna can happen to anyone of us and that is why we must fight it now before it spirals out of control. We are hoping that Kisumu governor Anyang’ Nyongo will also join us even for a single night vigil. We will not relent in our quest to ensure that the constitution is respected,” Mark stated.

Miguna on Monday thanked Okumu on behalf of NRM and asked him not to die but organise and mobilise more Kenyans to have President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto removed from power.

“The #NRMKe comrades thank Mr. Boniface Akumu for showing total commitment to the struggle. However, I urge him and others not to die. Instead, we must ORGANISE, MOBILISE and REMOVE the despots from their illegitimate positions of power.” Miguna said.

Interior and Coordination Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i on Tuesday morning appeared before the Parliamentary Committee on National Security and Administration where he stated Miguna was never deported to Dubai but was instead simply removed from theJomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) as an undocumented person.
