Police Issue strict order on NASA event to Receive Raila at JKIA on Friday

Be warned NASA

In a letter by George Kinoti, the National Police Service (NPS) noted that JKIA was a protected area and mobilizing the huge crowds to be at the Airport would jeopardize the security.

NASA leaders called on their supporters to turn up in huge numbers to receive the former Prime Minister on Friday.

However, Kinoti mentioned: “JKIA is a protected area, hence access is open to bonafide travelers and all others with legitimate business at the airport who must be subjected at all times to the standard security procedure".

“It is therefore not advisable to mobilize huge crowds to travel to that facility as it risks jeopardizing the safety of air operators, passengers, and other airport users,” the letter read in part.

Kinoti, who is the NPS Spokesperson, highlighted those who do not have a reason to be at JKIA will be denied entry.

The police further cautioned NASA concerning a political rally it was planning the same day stating that the proper procedure must be complied with.

The police notice was not received kindly by NASA leaders, with ODM Communication Director Philip Etale criticizing the warning as unwarranted.

"Going to the AIRPORT to receive someone or a guest doesn't require state permission. I think we are taking this joke a bit too far. Kenya is not a police state,” Etale tweeted.
