The position fell vacant after, Joe Muganda, who had been at the helm of the media house for two and a half years, resigned in January 2018.

According to Business Today, three candidates were interviewed for the CEO post: Igathe, acting CEO Stephen Gatagama, and former Vision 2030 director-general Mugo Kibati.

Muganda is now the Managing Director of Vivo Energy, a position previously held by Igathe, who resigned after partnering with Mike Sonko to win the Nairobi Gubernatorial seat.

I regret I have failed to earn the trust of the Governor to enable me to drive Admin & Management of the county. Without fear, favor or ill will I step down to avoid abusing or betraying my oath of office to Kenyans, Nairobians and my family. Thank you for the encouraging support given to me so far,” Igathe wrote after his resignation.

Meanwhile, the ex-Vivo managing director has been out of the public limelight since his resignation.
