Sonko under siege
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, Mr. Sonko stated that the senior official, who he avoided naming, has been blocking him from performing his duties as the County boss.
He mentioned that the same Government official had previously dismissed him as an uneducated person who cannot be elected as Governor.
"Ï am very sad that the same person in Government who said that Sonko did not go to school, Sonko has a criminal record is the same person now saying that Sonko is a failure even predicting my death," he said.
He warned the unnamed Government official against undermining him noting that: "If the president is helping me who are you to fight me?"
An agitated Governor added that those opposing him also include cartels and a group of lawyers who have vowed to fight him by calling for the disbandment of Nairobi as a county.
"There is a coalition of a cartel that has been created to fight me. They have noticed that there are good things so they are now concentrating on the negativity.
"Now they are just doing diversionary tactics, character assassination and at the same time they are calling for the disbandment of Nairobi county," he said.
Sonko asked Nairobians to give him one more year promising that there will be a significant change in the City. He noted that though not evident to the public yet, his office was working and the procurement process was what was delaying the results Nairobians want to see.
"Why do you want me to go home within five months? Why don’t you give me time? Why don’t you come and help me?”
"Let them make noise but when we will be launching all these projects I am working on thy will stand in awe," he said.
Mr. Sonko is on record accusing Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho of undermining his leadership.
