NASA principals to hold urgent crisis talks

Kalonzo forces NASA to cancel plans

The coalition was forced to cancel the meeting which was initially scheduled for following the absence of Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka who extended his stay in Germany to attend to his sick wife.

Musyoka will jet in on Tuesday and is expected to attend the burial service of the late Kitui West legislator Francis Nyenze before proceeding to Mombasa for the talks.

The meeting comes in the wake of concerns that the coalition is losing its support base with open divisions playing out among the party leadership in parliament and supporters.

A number of NASA legislators failed to throw their weight behind the NASA Chief Executive Officer Norman Magaya which made him lose his nomination slot to the East African Legislative Assembly.

The political parties under NASA have also disowned and rejected numerous lists forwarded by the coalition nominating members to various parliamentary committees and parliamentary leadership.

Recent decision to call off Raila Odinga’s swearing in attracted criticism and backlash from NASA followers.

Odinga who will chair the meeting is already in Mombasa for the retreat which is also expected to come up with a way forward for his much publicized swearing in event.

Co-principals Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi will also attend the meeting.
