Kenyans react after Raila's high profile meeting with Trump's official
This came minutes after a photo of the private meeting was shared by Mr Godec and Hailey.
In a tweet, the two ambassadors stated: "Religious & business leaders & diplomats met NASA leaders today. Urge government, opposition & all Kenyans to engage in open, transparent national conversation to address underlying issues & strengthen institutions to help Kenya. Stressed need to uphold Constitution".
The meeting irked a section of the public who questioned why the leaders remained mum when the Opposition was pushing for electoral reforms before the country went for the fresh presidential poll.
Others expressed their distrust in Mr. Godec with Laf Doa stating: “You are not an honest broker”.
Some urged NASA chief Raila Odinga, who led other Opposition leaders to the meeting, not to relent in his efforts to push for reforms and resisting President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Government.
“@RailaOdinga kindly please do not betray ur supporters we are eagerly ready for Tuesday HE.president Raila... Don't listen to then n if u do we will never forgive this I promise u,” Gabriel Oloo tweeted.
At the same time, some tweeps mentioned that the ambassadors ought to have sharply criticized the excessive force police allegedly used against NASA supporters leading to deaths of hundreds.
“Nasa must not accept this nonsense, Uhuru positioned himself for this, @JubileePartyK refused the pre-poll dialogue and its time @RailaOdinga remembers Over 250 innocent lives were killed...swearing in ceremony must go on,” Abdulhamid Noor said.
