Sonko reveals who he will work with after Igathe's resignation

Sonko's final decision on way forward after Igathe's resignation

Speaking during a workshop in Kiambu County on Thursday, Sonko stated that he was committed to working with Members of the County Assembly to ensure that services are delivered to the people of Nairobi.

He dismissed any plans of having a dialogue with Mr. Igathe noting that the former Vivo Energy boss fired himself.

“His resignation is a non-issue to me. I did not fire him, he decided to exit. We have other elected leaders – the MCAs – and I’d urge Nairobi residents to have faith in us, even as we promise efficient service delivery. That is our prime focus,” he said.

The Governor listed some of his top agendas stating that it was imperative to work with the Ward Representatives for the benefit of the whole county.

“We were just focusing on development and delivering services to the people of Nairobi. What Nairobians want is for us to fix roads, drainage systems and collect waste within our wards amongst other services, it is only through working together and implementing the ward development fund that we can realize this.

Our work as a county government can only be realized through the investments we put into all our wards across the entire county,” he said.

Sonko and Nairobi MCAs are holding a three-day workshop at Ruiru Rainbow Resort to discuss the budget-making process and implementation of the county’s ward development fund.

Mr. Igathe shocked Kenyans when he stated that he will be resigning from his position as the Deputy Governor of Nairobi.

However, Igathe resignation was not received kindly by some political pundits with controversial analyst Mutahi Ngunyi theorising the biggest mistake he (Igathe) made before quitting.
