The people who accompanied Raila to see Kibaki

This is the latest in a series of high profile meetings the opposition chief is having since the much talked about handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta on the steps of Harambee house on March 9.
Pulselive.co.ke has learned that Raila Odinga took with him several confidants to Mr Kibaki’s home for the 12 noon meeting which the press was locked out.

Raila’s delegation included Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o, Laikipia Governor Nderitu Muriithi (independent) and also the nephew to Mr Kibaki. Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko, also accompanied him after an earlier meeting in Raila’s Capitol Hill offices.
Earlier, media reports indicated that there was also Head of Civil Service Mr Joseph Kinyua and a State official identified as Stephen Kirogo from Uhuru Kenyatta’s cabinet corridors. Siaya Senator James Orengo was also present.
Raila’s personal lawyer Mr Paul Mwangi, who was also part of the delegation that flanked him in the Harambee House meeting on March 9 and Kibaki’s son, Jimi Kibaki, were part of the meeting which lasted nearly an hour.
Earlier, Daily Nation reported that a source privy to Mr Odinga said that the meeting between the two leaders was to hold talks about the handshake.

“It is about the handshake, a lot is going on and he wants to brief Mzee Kibaki as much,” said a source close to the opposition leader.
Later, Mr Odinga tweeted of a successful meeting with Mr Kibaki.
"I called on Retired President Mwai Kibaki and it was good to see him in very high spirits. We discussed the current state of our nation and exchanged ideas on how best we can forge ahead in unity as a people.
"The greater common good of our people should be our motivation as we take steps to build an all inclusive Kenya where nobody feels left behind. Equal opportunity for all and a level playing field is what our people expect and deserve.

"He wished us well as we proceed with this arduous task and I thank him for his candid advice." he tweeted.
The meeting comes only a week after Mr Odinga held similar talks with Mzee Kibaki’s predecessor, retired president Daniel Moi, at the latter’s Kabarak home in Nakuru County.
