The police officer secretly helping Miguna inside JKIA

Miguna's lawyer spill the beans

Details have emerged of how Mr. Miguna has been able to communicate to his followers and lawyers despite being under police custody.

Speaking on BBC his lawyer Cliff Ombeta revealed that there was a police officer secretly helping Miguna at JKIA.

Mr. Ombeta claimed that the officer, who he described as a sympathizer, had sneaked a mobile phone to the Canadian-based lawyer which he was using to communicate.

“We got somebody to sneak a phone to him. One of the police officers who was watching him is actually a sympathiser and gave him a phone and we were able to speak to him,” he said.

He added that Miguna, who is currently unwell ,was being held in a toilet

“Mr. Miguna spent the night at JKIA again and he is actually being locked up in a very small room that is also a washroom we spoke to him last night. He is slightly unwell, he is keeping up,” he said.

On Monday, Miguna arrived in Kenya at 2.30Pm but was detained at the Immigration Department because he did not possess a Kenyan passport.

He was asked to surrender his Canadian passport then apply for a Visa but he refused.

According to Miguna, applying for the Visa as a tourist would restrict him from conducting his political activities in the country.

After a stand-off of more than 8 hours, a battalion of police officers bundled the fiery lawyer into an Emirates flight in a bid to deport him to Dubai.

The Immigration officers claimed that Miguna was an undocumented visitor who cannot be allowed in the country.

However, Miguna refused to board the plane and stood at the door restricting any movement.

Eventually, the captain locked the plane’s door and Miguna was left at JKIA’s runway.
