Tuju warns journalists

Making reference to the Rwanda’s civil strife, the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry Without portfolio warned journalists of their sinister motives to report on ‘drama within the political circles’ for the sake of news.
“What happens if we put this country in a state of Civil war because of the media content? Don’t mix up issues for the sake of your views on television or so that you can get something to talk about the following day. Remember what happened in Rwanda, the media was part of it. The media incited people to fight and you all know what happened after that.
“So don’t just go around looking for drama to show on television or tell of what the other politician has said. You need to be responsible. When this country faces challenges, you as a journalist will be affected too,” the party official told journalists in a press conference.

Mr Tuju was reacting to a series of news reports in the media that huge cracks had emerged in the ruling Jubilee party. Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen who hinted that the fight against graft, in particular lifestyle audit was a move to target DP Ruto. Had sparked the news in a TV interview.
No PG Meeting
Meanwhile, The Jubilee Party has dismissed reports that they have scheduled a parliamentary group meeting to be held on Tuesday.
Various media houses, including the Nation and the Standard, had independently reported sources who indicated that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto had on Friday agreed to hold a crisis PG meeting on Tuesday.

Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju has, however, dismissed the media reports, adding that there was no crisis as reported by the media and fanned by a section of MPs allied to the Deputy President.
"After due consultations and after speaking with our parliamentary Majority Leader Aden Duale. I am able to confirm that there will be NO Jubilee Party Parliamentary Group Meeting tomorrow by the Party Leadership. I would like to assure members that there is nothing even remotely close to a crisis in the Party," Tuju's statement read in part.
He added that in the next few weeks, President Kenyatta will host a retreat for Jubilee MPs to "better articulate the Jubilee transformative agenda and other important issues".
