CS Amina Mohamed forced to act after threat by NASA

The CS acted after receiving message from the ODM National Chairman.

On Wednesday, Nasa MPs from the Nyanza region raised issue with the arrest of Kenyan fishermen by Ugandan ministers.

The MPs, who were led by ODM Chairman John Mbadi, threatened that the region would be forced to secede if their people were not protested by the Kenyan government.

They further issued a notice for the release of all the 22 fishermen who are reported to have been arrested at the disputed Migingo Island.

On Thursday, barely twenty four hours after the demands by NASA, Ms Mohamed had managed to secure the release of 7 of the arrested fishermen while another 9 are expected to be released later on Friday.

The Foreign Affairs CS coordinated the release at the same time that she is handling a diplomatic crisis between Kenya and Tanzania.

Tanzania had burnt over 6000 chicks belonging to a Kenyan trader, in addition to auction of over 1000 cows which were caught grazing in their territory.
