Uhuru and Raila meet for the first time since repeat election [VIDEO]

The two leaders were sharing a platform for the first time since the Oct 26 election re-run

President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga met for the first time since the divisive Oct 26 repeat election which Odinga boycotted whereas Kenyatta was declared winner by the IEBC.

The two leaders were part of the congregation that converged at the All Saints Cathedral on Sunday to mark the first centenary celebrations of the Anglican Church of Kenya in a ceremony attended by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.

The symbolic head of the worldwide Anglican communion on Saturday met President Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi, where he urged Kenyans to maintain peace.

It is the second time this year that Archbishop Welby is visiting Kenya, having also been in the country in February at the beginning of the celebrations to mark the church’s 100th anniversary.

The cathedral acts as the headquarters of the Anglican Province in Kenya as well as a diocese of the Anglican Church in Kenya with Archbishop Jackson ole Sapit as the bishop of the diocese.

The service was also attended by other leaders and government officials including Chief Justice David Maraga.

Odinga had earlier last month met Archbishop Welby in the Windsor Suite at Heathrow Airport, where discussions focused on the political situation in Kenya. It was the Opposition leader's first activities after he flew out of the country just after he had withdrew from the Oct 26 election re-run, seeking to have a fresh poll.
