Jubilee MPs summoned to a crisis meeting

Reports indicate that an urgent Parliamentary group meeting has been arranged for next week and will be attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta in a bid to restore order and unity.

The meeting which will be convened by Secretary General Raphael Tuju will see the President give the way forward to his troupes

Rebel MPs who are behind the troubles rocking Jubilee could also be subjected to disciplinary action.

Jubilee Party Vice Chairman David Murathe disclosed to a local daily that “You cannot be a leader in Parliament and not support the position of the Party Leader. The President is ready to discipline any member of the party who goes against its manifesto and policies."

“We are asking them to reduce the amount of politicking and concentrate on the Big Four. If we are successful on the big four, it will only be good for succession path of the DP," Murathe added.

A National Governing Council meeting planned for next month has however been called off. According to Murathe, the party is not facing a crisis to warrant such a meeting and the parliamentary Group should put its act together by sitting down and thrashing out the issues.

Divisions in Jubilee have been fueled by concerns that the ongoing onslaught on corruption with DP Ruto’s camp alleging that they are unfairly being targeted and the fight against corruption is being used to settle political scores.

Concerns have also been raised that Mount Kenya regain may not support DP Ruto’s 2022 bid with several leaders from the region warning that support for the DP in 2022 is not guaranteed.

Senate majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen caused a stir when he claimed that well connected people within the presidency were undermining DP Ruto’s 2022 bid.
