Shortly after President Uhuru Kenyatta's social media accounts were deleted on Friday, State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita confirmed that they had been hacked.

The State House official added that the accounts had only been temporarily suspended and would be restored after the issues are solved.

"On account of unauthorized access to the official social media handles of H.E the President of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta.

"All official social media handles for the President have been temporarily suspended to allow for the necessary remedial measures to be undertaken," Waita's statement explained.

Theories on disappearance of Uhuru's social media accounts

Quick netizens forwarded a number of theories on the disappearance of the President's accounts with some accusing those opposed to the war on corruption as the main culprits.

The commentators reasoned that since President Kenyatta's last update was a warning to those linked to corruption, they must have deleted his accounts to get back at him.
