We have no presidential candidate - Jubilee Governor announces

DP Ruto's vessel is slowly sinking.

Mr Muthomi, who seemed to complicate the matters for DP Ruto’s presidency stab, told him (Ruto), to give President Uhuru Kenyatta a chance to exhaustively deliver on the four-point agenda, in the bid to make up his legacy.

“Let him be given a chance to do his work, so that when it comes to 2022, they give their own candidate and we shall have our own candidate. On whether we have a candidate for 2022, is not clear, as clearly we don’t have one for now,” the former MP lawmaker said.

He added: “For now wed don’t know the candidate and we are scouting for that someone who will care about Tharaka Nithi County, so that we follow that path.”

Just last week, Governor Muthomi stirred doubt over William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid by threatening to withdraw the county's support in anger at Uhuru Kenyatta's failure to nominate a cabinet secretary from the region in just sworn in cabinet, which he termed as ‘lacking national outlook’.

"I have heard that there are some seats being given out and we are still watching. Let the president and his deputy be told we are still watching.

When the distribution of seats will come to an end and our people are left out, then don't come here in 2022 looking for votes," he told the deputy president.

On Sunday, however, DP Ruto said he is has focused on the 2022 presidential race and his opponents should “stop using lies and propaganda to taint Jubilee and the government.”

The DP dismissed accusations that Jubilee is acting contrary to the Constitution, adding the government will implement the pledges made during the election.

He told NASA to stop causing hatred and animosity “in the hopes of capitalizing on sympathy in 2022”.

Ruto spoke yesterday during an interdenominational service in Turbo, Uasin Gishu County.

"We defeated them twice last year and let them prepare for a rematch with me in 2022," Ruto said. He said President Uhuru Kenyatta and himself respect the rule of law and the Constitution "unlike leaders in the opposition".

"We have faced many hurdles as a government and Jubilee, and if we were not respecting the rule of law, this country would be in total chaos," Ruto said.
