What Miguna will do after his nomination as Deputy Governor, Kenyans speculate

Miguna's next move

An alleged letter by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko confirming Miguna’s nomination made rounds on social media.

Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) were quick to speculate what Miguna, who is on record castigating and insulting Mr. Sonko, would do with the nomination to the Deputy Governor’s office.

A large number expressed a belief that the Canadian-based lawyer would reject the nomination as he earlier indicated that he would never work with Mr. Sonko, who he describes as a Shimo la Tewa convict.

On the other hand, some suggested that Miguna would accept the offer then once in office launch a fierce fight against Mr. Sonko.

At the same time, a section of the public dismissed the nomination as mere politics following an alleged conflict Sonko has with a powerful government official.

Others opined that Sonko's move to appoint Miguna would save Nairobi, which is in a deplorable condition.

Miguna’s lawyer Cliff Ombeta told Citizen TV through a phone interview that Miguna was considering the position.

“I have the letter. I am on my way to hand over the letter to the speaker. Miguna is considering that position,” Ombeta said.

But can the to work together?

Mr Sonko has been under pressure to nominate a Deputy Governor after the former former DG Polycarp Igathe left the office.
