Why Uhuru cannot dare betray DP Ruto - Mutahi Ngunyi explains

Here it is

In his analysis titled: Ruto and Kikuyu Question: Is there Betrayal?, Mr. Ngunyi firmly stated that it was impossible for Uhuru to abandon Ruto because of a sacred convent, they entered in 2013.

According to the political scientist, the pact was made by President Kenyatta’s Kikuyu Community and DP Ruto’s Kalenjin and cannot be broken.

“The covenant between the GEMA nation and the Kalenjin nation is sacred. It is a covenant between two communities, not individuals. However, the price to make this covenant was made by two individuals; Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto,"he said.

Leading to the 2013 General Election, Kenyatta and Ruto, who were facing cases against humanity at the International Criminal Court (ICC), joined forces to contest in the presidential race.

Prof Ngunyi mentioned that Mr Ruto’s people had kept their side of the covenant by supporting the election and re-election of President Kenyatta. He divulged that it was now time for Mr. Kenyatta’s people to do the same.

“The Kalenjin nation has kept its side of the covenant and they have done it diligently and without wavering. Now the GEMA nation must show its honor and I am persuaded that they will do so.

“My father taught me that Kikuyu’s are honorable people. If you are true to them they will be true to you and if Raila had remained true to Kibaki, he would be President today for a fact. Uhuru would have actually been Vice President awaiting to be President in 2022 but Raila was impatient,” he opined.

On the other hand, Ngunyi noted that Ruto had been consistent hence earned the trust of the GEMA nation.

However, the analysts noted that if Kenyatta or Jubilee dares to betray Ruto it would be detrimental to their own adding that the DP will be President either way.

"With or without the Kikuyu nation William Ruto will become President. If the Kikuyus betray Ruto the entire country will regiment against them and make Ruto president in annoyance then the Kikuyus get banished from politics forever. If President Moi oppressed them, a rejected Ruto elected by other communities will show them no mercy,”  he mentioned.
