A few days after rejecting over Sh50 million for cars and swearing in ceremony, Nandi Governor has issued a new order.

Speaking during his swearing in ceremony, Nandi County governor Stephen Sang ordered an immediate lifestyle audit of all county staff.

“Under my administration, public resources shall be prudently utilized. I will not tolerate any case of corruption," Mr Sang, 32, said.

He added:"Everyone found to have engaged in corruption will be dealt with as per the law."

Mr Sang reiterated that the findings of the audit will be made public before making any further decision.

In addition, the Jubilee governor and youngest of the incoming crop, also ordered a staff head count to remove ghost workers from the payroll.

On groups engaging in graft, he said: "Cartels in Nandi must come to an end. They should try county No. 048."

He said he will personally protect and defend upright county employees.

On Monday, Mr Sang cancelled a Sh50 million budget for new cars and for his swearing-in ceremony.

Mr Sang floored his rival Anderson Kibet Serem (independent) who got 13,294 votes by getting 254,764 votes. He becomes the second governor of Nandi after he floored the first governor Cleophas Lagat in the party primaries held in May.
