Licensed gun holder who shot popular hotelier tells his side of the story

Hotelier Osewe Ranalo was shot and seriously injured along Thika road when he confronted his rival who was armed with a ceska pistol.

 

Last Thursday December 1, Osewe Ranalo, the owner of popular Kimathi Street-based Ranalo restaurant, was shot three times in his lower abdomen by rival hotelier, Tom Oywa Mboya.

Media reports claimed that the two had a confrontation after Osewe accused Mboya of having an affair with his wife.

Mr. Mboya called senior police officer at Kasarani police station and informed him he was driving to the station after he shot Osewe.

Daily Nation says Mboya who is a licensed gun holder, told the police that Osewe confronted him at Hagon eatery accusing him of having an affair with his wife. He said he shot Osewe in self defense.

According to Jarunda, (a staunch Gor Mahia follower) Tom Mboya and Osewe have always had a beef with each other.

Oywa is also a hotelier, the owner of African cuisine restaurant Oywa Ngori which is located around Nairobi Central Railways Station.

Jarunda says that Osewe started working for Oywa at his eatery before proceeding to open his Ranalo Foods restaurant along Kimathi Street.

The Gor Mahia aficionado further claims that Oywa is known to eye beautiful woman including wives and girlfriends of his close associates; he says that Oywa inherited the second wife of the late cabinet minister, Otieno Kajwang’, who was his close friend.
