Identity of man who attacked DP Ruto’s home revealed

The police disclosed the identity of the attacker who was killed at DP Ruto's Sugoi home.

On Monday, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Ndegwa Muhoro said the man was Mohammed Ibrahim Muhamood, a resident of Dandu village in Mandera East.

However, Muhoro said that they are yet to establish terror links in the attack, saying that Muhamood acted alone.

“The attacker has been doing business in Eldoret Town and we can confirm that he was alone in this raid,” Muhoro said in Eldoret.

The DCI boss disclosed that the police had taken the fingerprints of Muhammad whose body was lying at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, to establish if he had a criminal record.

Police finally managed to kill the intruder on Sunday morning ending a 20-hour siege.

The machete-wielding man attacked a GSU officer manning the gate before he gained entry into the house and into an armoury where he accessed the weapons.

While addressing the press after the end of the operation, Rift Valley Regional Coordinator Wanyama Musiambo said a police officer was shot dead by the assailant during the raid.

DP Ruto later said that the attack on his Sugoi home was aimed at causing tension and disunity among Kenyans.
