Kenyans condemn Uhuru after scathing attack on Maraga

“We shall revisit this thing. We clearly have a problem. Who even elected you?"

Kenyans slammed President Uhuru Kenyatta after he unleashed a scathing attack on Chief Justice David Maraga and the Supreme Court following Friday’s historic ruling that saw the August 8 elections nullified.

President Kenyatta, while addressing Jubilee Governors and MCAs’ at State house on Saturday, said he was disappointed that the will of the people had supposedly not been respected.

A seemingly disgruntled Mr.Kenyatta promised to ‘fix’ the Supreme Court should he win the elections in November.

“We shall revisit this thing. We clearly have a problem. Who even elected you? Were you? We have a problem and we must fix it,” he said.

He insisted that though he respects the ruling of the apex court and was ready for an election, the judgment in itself, he argued, was wrong both in principle and fact.

“The Supreme Court sat and decided that they are the ones with a bigger power than the 15 million Kenyans who woke up, queued in lines, and voted for their preferred presidential candidate. As a Supreme Court, they cannot annul the wishes of the people. And we will revisit this thing,” said a tough-talking Mr. Kenyatta.

His corrosive remarks were not well received by Kenyans who asked him to respect independence of the Judiciary and rule of law.
