2016 KCPE results released Top candidate scores 439/500 and no single case of Cheating reported

After eight years of hard work, sacrifices, braving the morning chill, and undertaking instant punishments whenever one makes noise or comes late.

Kenya certificate of primary education, 2016 candidates would know if their hard work and sweat paid off.

Education Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang’i has released the 2016 KCPE exam results.

In the results released at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) in Nairobi, the top candidate scored 436 marks out of 500.

A total of 952,445 pupils sat this for the 2016 examination of which only 5,190 managed to score over 400 marks.

Compared to last year’s result, this is a 2,000-candidate drop where over 7,000 scored 400 marks and above.

And for the first time in Kenya's history of KCPE, Dr Matiang'i announced that all candidates would receive their results as there was not a single case of cheating, Record!

Across the entire country, there were only 21 cases of malpractices and attempted cheating reported, according to the Cabinet secretary as reported by DN.

Dr Matiang'I, however failed to institute back school ranking and candidates ranking saying the law ordering return to the old tradition took effect late.

President Uhuru Kenyatta assented to the 2016 Kenya National Examination (Amendment) Act in late August bringing back school ranking.

Dr. Fred Matiang’I has been on a mission to curb exam cheating at primary and secondary level, Matiang’i initiated some radical changes at the Kenya National Examinational council including physically supervising the exams.

The cabinet secretary of education seem to have not only succeeded but passed with flying colours, Congratulations are in order.
