Owner of popular food joint shot allegedly over a woman

William Osewe was shot in the stomach three times before being rushed to AAR Healthcare at Mountain Mall.

The K'osewe Ranalo Foods restaurant on Kimathi Street, Nairobi. The owner was shot in Nairobi on December 1, 2016.

The owner of the popular K’osewe Ranalo food joint restaurant was on Thursday shot in Nairobi allegedly over a quarrel concerning a woman.

A bullet which exited Osewe’s body hit a guard who was nearby and injured him on the leg.

According to Nairobi News, the attacker who is a licenced firearm holder later surrendered himself to the police.

The two had been spotted having lunch at a fish joint near Roasters Inn before engaging in a heated argument allegedly over a woman.

The attacker claimed Osewe had attacked him first provoking him to remove his firearm and shoot the restaurant owner.

Osewe’s white Mercedes Benz was later towed to the Kasarani Police Station.

K’osewe is a popular eating joint specialising in African dishes located in Nairobi’s Kimathi Street.

K’Osewe (Luo for Osewe’s place) is majorly known for its tasty fish among other local delicacies

Popular with politicians and celebrities

In June this yearCORD principals led by Raila Odinga on hosted Jubilee politicians led by Moses Kuria over lunch at K’Osewe soon after several leaders were released from detention over charges of incitement and hate speech.

The meeting was aimed at diffusing tension and promoting tolerance among the rival leaders and within their supporters.

Osewe has been quoted saying the ODM party leader has been his customer since the food joint was started at the premises, over 10 years ago

Members of the Morgan Heritage family during their Kenyan tour were also among notable celebrities who have visited the restaurant.
