A student dies of hypertension and other hospitalized after being attacked by arrows

The increased measures to curb cheating have seen the exams start without the usual proliferation of exam papers. However, the exams have started on a sour and sad note elsewhere.

One student has lost his life and another will be forced to sit for the papers in hospital nursing grievous wounds in his private areas.

A student in Nakuru’s Jomo Kenyatta Boys High school passed away after succumbing to hypertension in hospital shortly before the exam kicked off.

Francis Kinyua, passed on yesterday shortly before getting to the exam while undergoing treatment for hypertension.

According to the teachers at the school the student had a long history of blood pressure and he had been on and off school being treated for the condition.

The boy had been given time to rest as the family and the doctors worked on a schedule to manage his condition and see him get back to school for the exams.

However, his condition deteriorated as the exams got closer. Doctors had expressed confidence that he could make it for the exams but he succumbed to his condition while under treatment.

In Kisii County a candidate will be sitting for the exams in hospital after he was among the group of students attacked by Kipsigis warriors chasing cattle rustlers.

Thomas Singombe of Ikorongo SDA was shot by an arrow on his buttocks as he was heading to school. Casualties were taken to Gucha hospital for treatment.

The area MP pledged to talk to the County Director of education and ensure the affected students sat for their papers in hospital.
