Malawi ‘hyena man’ will be forced to eat cold beans and cold porridge and not ‘P**SY’ for the next two years.

Eric Aniva, popularly known in Malawi as a "hyena", has been sentenced to 24 months in jail with hard labour.

Aniva who is HIV+, was convicted for having unprotected sex with newly bereaved widows and infecting them with HIV.

Aniva, came into the international lime light in a bizzare ritual in Malawi, where he was being paid to have sex with women and girls some as young as 12 and 13 years old

The practice of "widow cleansing", which until recently was still popular despite being outlawed years ago, is when a widow must have sex after her husband dies.

In a remote southern part of Malawi, it's traditional for girls to be made to have sex with a paid sex worker known as a "hyena" once they reach puberty in cultural practice known as kulowa kufa.

The act is not seen by village elders as rape, but as a form of ritual "cleansing".

Eric Aniva, in a shocking revelation admitted to the BBC to having sex with more than 100 women and girls and not disclosing his HIV status.

For his 'devouring assignment', Hyena man was being paid $4 to $7 (Ksh 400 - 700) by the girls parents.

International outrage and media coverage led to President of Malawi, Peter Mutharika to order his arrest in July this year.

Mr. Mutharika had wanted Aniva tried for defiling young girls, but none came forward to testify against him.

Instead only two women testified against him and he was tried for "harmful cultural practice" under section five of Malawi's Gender Equality Act, for having sex with new widows.

Aniva's lawyer, Michael Goba Chipeta, told BBC, he would appeal against the conviction and the sentence.

Last year, Malawi banned child marriage, raising the legal age of marriage from 15 to 18 something activists hoped would put an end to early sexual initiations.

Now it seem the only ‘hard on’ Hyena man would have is hard and rough hands.
